Some symptoms are not normal and a sign that something could be wrong. Be sure to attend all follow up appointments. For example, if your eye doctor used a gas bubble to keep your retina stable, you will have to keep your head in a certain position for the first few weeks or days. Some symptoms will depend on what was done during the surgery. Also, your doctor may send you home with eye drops to prevent infection. It may feel strange at first, but this will help keep your eye comfortable and protected. To reduce discomfort, your ophthalmologist may recommend wearing an eye patch.
